Jacob funny

We have the book "The Beranstain Bears and too much junk food". In the book, Mama bear tries to make the family healthier by eating no junk food for a week. Papa bear is upset that mama bear takes away his sugar balls and choco chums. We haven't read the book in a while but Jake just came up to me with a little bag of Whoppers and said "Mom, these are my last choco chums." I thought that was pretty cute.

Trunk or Treat

Thankfully we weren't rained out! Here are some pictures from the trunk or treat last night. It is supposed to rain pretty hard tonight so I don't know if we will do any trick or treating tonight.
The boys loved the vampire teeth from Justine!

Yellow angry bird and storm trooper pig!

Having fun with friends... like always!

Luis and I were lame and didn't dress up at all. But it was still fun!

Daddy Appreciation night!

For FHE last night the boys and I wanted to make daddy feel really special. We got a cake and made a card with why we love him. I asked each boy "Why do you love daddy?" Jax was sweet and said because he gives hugs and kisses, plays soccer, plays games. Jake just said angry birds. No explanation even with prompting.... just angry birds. I love him for a lot of reasons. He is motivated, a good provider, generous and humble, faithful, a comedian... and much more. We even wanted to give him a back massage... that is where the boys beat their fists on his back... :) but it didn't end up happening. Anyway, I know Dad's get Father's day as their special day... but I didn't want to wait until June.

Childrens Primary Program

We had the childrens primary program at church and I was excited because every year so far Jax has been sick that day! It is weird. But he's healthy today so he got up and did a great job. He is usually so silly when he gets up there and would never say the part in practice! But he said it perfectly today! And he sang so loud I could hear every word! It was adorable. We did have a little scare though. Luis was playing piano for the program and I had a clear view of Jackson's teacher. I thought that he must have been seated behind the piano or something because I couldn't see him. I noticed that Jackson's teacher was mouthing at me "Where's Jackson?" So I mouthed back "He's not there?" Nope... he wasn't on the stage. Interesting... we had sent him out to the foyer with the other children to line up... great... I thought he must be having a great time running around the church if he wasn't on the stage. I immediately left and went to find him. I found him in the primary room... sitting very quietly in the center of the room... in the only chair. Arms folded... just waiting. Haha. He must have thought when we sent him out of the chapel that it was time for primary! It was so sweet. I told him everyone else was starting the program and we rushed back! His teacher and I got a big kick out of that. Luis was focused on the prelude music so he didn't notice Jax wasn't there. :) Anyway, it turned out fine and he did great!

Temperatures have been pretty cool. 60s during the day. The house was 65 when we woke up this morning and The boys play in their room on Sundays until breakfast. When I went to get them, they were running around with their shirts off tickling each other! I was freezing in sweatpants and a hoodie... how were they not freezing?

Both boys are loving their new winter clothes... Jake loves this new sweater!

My new haircut! I got pretty much the same cut as usual but we added bangs! I am loving it!

Cute boys before church!

Cute boys

Here are some pictures of my cuties! We went to a pirate birthday party for one of Jackson's friends last week. It was so fun. This is my best attempt at a DIY pirate outfit! Jake really wanted one too... but the best I could do for him was the cut off pants and bandana! Homemade hooks too!

Our neighbor gave us a pumpkin and Jake brought one home from nursery, so the boys really wanted to paint them. They had fun... we put the pumpkins on our porch and the paint even lasted through the rain last night!

Jax really likes to sing. In primary, he belts it out when he knows the words. I heard him signing the other day and got the camera. This is the "Pizza Angel" song from veggie tales. When he sings I love to see the temple... at one point it sounds like he says "Where we can sin together"... I thought that was pretty funny.
I was just on the phone with tech support working on a computer problem... and I had Jake watching Blue's Clues. He had been really cuddly before that... which is unusual for him lately. I should have guessed he was tired. I have been working all week from 6am-12pm and he has been playing at a friends house during that time. I guess they exhausted him! This is how I found him when I got off the phone. Face in the pillows, all covered up... sound asleep! So cute!

A Focus... on family tradition

So, we thought we could get away with only needing one car.  At the time, Luis was riding the metro to work almost everyday.  Since the metro stopped a few minutes walk from where he worked, it was convenient and cheap.  We had Liz and Alan sell the Pontiac which we had lent to Luis' sister Becky until she was situated.  However, time changes everything!

Luis quickly realized that Express Scripts was not going to adjust his pay to be on par with his qualifications and with what the industry indicated he was worth.  Over 1/2 of the people in his department had left already and he had already gone through two performance reviews where his supervisor told him his performance was superb but that the other department leaders felt he wasn't there long enough to merit a significant increase.  So...he resigned and accepted an offer at Boeing.

Now here is the fun part...we quickly realized that it was very inconvenient being restricted to one car now that Jax is in school.  Luis had bought a fun little BMW, but even until today the bank still couldn't get him plates.  After 7 weeks of sitting in the garage he was able to get a temporary tag.  Anyway, being a loving husband that he is and understanding my preference for practicality (the BMW was not practical since it was a two-seater), and being upset at the fact that he still didn't have plates, he went to the dealership where he used to work and traded the BMW in for a.....wait for it....wait for it....drum roll please....raise the curtains....and....he....bought...a....FORD FOCUS!!!

Yes, you read that right, a highly fuel efficient, highly practical, and great warranty Ford Focus.  The Weger tradition of driving Ford Foci lives on.  While he is a little bummed that his time with the BMW was such short lived, we are both excited to get 40/MPG and have heated seats and mirrors and so many nice little features.  He can easily listen to his audiobooks while driving to work and the built in Bluetooth will allow him to drive hands free.  Anyway...this is not the "Ultimate Driving Machine" but it is a "Very Practical Family Car."

Luis' new job

Luis has a new job. I think most know that by now... We were very glad that he has this opportunity because things were just not going well with his previous employer... which I would like to point out was just ranked the #2 worst place to work! What a great time to resign! :) He is now working at Boeing as a Procurement Agent in the Defense, Space, and Security division. He had been told by countless people how great Boeing is and what a wonderful work environment it is. So far, so good! Luis can already see a lot of improvements over his last job and I think he is really going to enjoy this! His discussions with his supervisor(s) has already revealed the many opportunities for growth within the company and the ability he has to go to foreign locations should positions open up.  His cubicle is smaller, but he's been spoiled already with all new equipment (laptop, monitor, expensive backpack, etc).  The job came at the perfect time for us and we are very thankful for it! They offered him exactly what he wanted... something his last employer told him he wasn't worth... so there! He got it! In addition, Boeing has a really nice retirement program and Luis has maxed out his contribution and to take advantage of Boeings matching and baseline contributions.  He also likes the fact that he works right across the street from where they build the F/A-18 Super Hornet fighter jets. I know I am biased because I am his wife... but Luis is such a great worker and any company is lucky to have him! I know he will go far at Boeing!

Fire Department Open House

We met up with some friends last night to go to the O'Fallon Fire Department open house. It turned out to be a lot of fun... and a little crazy in a good way... that's what happens when you put 4 young boys together! They are all such good friends. It is so cute! There was tons of stuff to do, but we didn't get to do all of it... we just ran out of time. The boys got to slide down the fire pole. The fireman who was helping said my boys did it super fast! They got to meet Sparky the fire dog (mascot) and Jake was pretty scared of him. Jax gave him hugs and high fives though. It was cute.

Just hangin out... waiting in line for a ride on a REAL fire truck! They loaded up the back and took us around the block. It was really fun but we had to wait in line for a long time!

They also had a rescue helicopter. The kids got to buckle up and try it out. FUN!

I wanted to do some more of the educational stuff inside... but we had another stop to make so we had to go. Jackson is having fire safety week at school, so I'm sure that's why they did the open house tonight. He knows all about stop, drop, and roll. He rarely expounds on what he learns in school... until something exciting like this comes along! I hear all about it. Same thing when they had a tornado drill... that's all he wanted to talk about :) I am just fine with that!

This was actually really good practice for Disney world in December! We had to wait in lines and I learned that Jake will take a while to warm up to mascots/characters. So excited!

Jackson Funny

I just asked Jackson if he likes playing piano or soccer better. He said soccer. So I said, "Do you even like playing piano?" And he said "Not necessarily." HAHAHAHA... do I even say that? Where did her learn that. Funny!
