Uncle "Max"

Matt stopped by the other day on his way to Philadelphia with his friend Will. He got here around 8am and he left the next morning around the same time. We didn't tell Ethan he was coming so it was an awesome surprise for him when Matt picked him up from School. They went to guitar center of course! We had a good dinner and stayed up waiting for Mom to get back from Paducah... where she went to a quilt show, I wish I was with her! (But she brought me back some new fabric :) Jackson knows his name is Matt but for some reason kept calling him Uncle Max. It was pretty funny. The boys had fun with him and I'm really glad we got to see him!

One of the best dishes ever!

We don't have a name for this dish. We call it the carrot and green bean thing. It's Silvia's dish, I think from Guatemala. :) It is delicious. I just wanted to post proof that I made it! Here is a condensed version of the recipe! Try it and call me with questions! Cook 1-2 pounds of beef shoulder roast in a pressure cooker or crock pot. Shred when finished. Chop up fresh green beans (about 2 lbs) and 2 bags of matchstick cut carrots into quarter inch pieces. Using the juice from the shoulder roast, steam the veggies. In another pan, saute tomato and onion. Add shredded meat. Add half a red bell pepper (chopped to the same size) about 10 minutes before the veggies are done. Combine meat and veggies. Warm corn tortillas on a skillet. Spoon meat and veggies inside a tortilla and squeeze a lime over it! It is so good!!!! Even Ethan liked it! And he doesn't usually like veggies!

Garage Sale-ing

Today Mom and I went garage-saling this morning. We brought the boys and they had a lot of fun looking at all the toys. I really wish I had a vhs player because the movies were so cheap... but I really don't want to start a vhs collection! I found a great deal on a dining room set, but I didn't have to buy it because just the other day a friend offered to give me hers! I sure hope she doesn't change her mind :) I got Jake a shirt that says "My dad is the man!" for 75 cents and they got a buzz, woody, and jessie toys. They both got a book and they also got a plane and a train. All for just a few dollars total! I love garage sales. Mom bought this little table thing. During Jacob's nap we heard the ice cream truck! Is it summer already? Jackson has never seen an ice cream truck so we rushed outside and he got to pick a popsicle... all the good stuff was really expensive... like $4! So he chose a cotton candy flavored on... yuck! Ok, this morning during breakfast Mom and I heard Jacob saying letters... I thought it was random but then he said "P...U...F...F" He was eating cocoa puffs and was reading the box! We were so impressed! So we asked him to repeat it and he did! He got most of the letters for cocoa but was saying E for C. I just couldn't believe that he was saying the letters correctly! My smarty pants Jacob baby!

YMCA Easter Egg Hunt

I forgot to post these on Easter. The YMCA also did an Easter Egg hunt. It was over very quickly. Jacob was very timid and didn't get many eggs. Plus there was a kid who was snatching the eggs right as other kids were reaching for it... and his mother was doing nothing... which was really annoying. Mom was with Jackson (they had age groups separated) and she said that Jackson picked up just a few eggs and got distracted by the candy inside... that was the end of his hunting. Very typical Jackson.

Mother's Day in April

Here are pictures of Mom opening the quilt books we made for her. She really liked them. I think they turned out great and the quality of the pictures is really good. The grandkids book turned out cute. I can't wait for her to go show them off to her friends! :) Don't blame the Christmas wrapping on me... Mom's stash is seriously lacking!

Jackson and Jacob Funnies

We were getting ready for bed and Luis noticed that one of the plastic toy bins was broken... the boys like to stand on them so we could assume what happened... but he asked Jacob, "Who broke this?" and Jacob said "Ethan". We laughed because Ethan rarely comes down into our room and definitely wouldn't step on the bin. So he asked Jackson "Did Ethan break this?" and Jackson said Yes. Then he said "Did you break this?" and Jackson said yes. Then he said "Did Jacob break this?" and Jackson said yes... Then he said "Did everybody break this?" And Jackson said yes! :) Can't get his story straight!

Aubry's Quilt

Most quilters name their quilts. I am not very good at that but I named Aubry's quilt "San Diego Spring" because Aubry is such a California girl and it just really reminded me of a nice day at the beach!!! I had a lot of sun and a lot of frustration making this quilt. parts of it don't line up... but I am very happy with the end result. I used the longarm quilting machine at Chris' shop and it was so much fun. I finished in about 3 hours. I love how crinkly it got after we washed it. The quilt pattern had a random design of the blocks and Luis helped me organize it and I think it turned out better than the pattern! I mailed it to her and she got it exactly on her birthday. I love you Aubry! I'm so happy that I can make awesome gifts for my family now!

Make sure you stop by Megan's blog for lots of pictures of my boys!

Fun with Megan!

I had a lot of fun when Megan was here. It has been so long since we have been together. It was great to catch up and pretty much get to know each other again! We had some great conversations and a lot of fun together. Here are some pictures, including several attempts at self-portraits... which mom claims to be a master of... :) It was really funny trying to get all the kids to smile in a picture together... and by funny I mean impossible! And I just had to finish it off with a cute one of my boys! Love you Meg!

Easter

I really don't have memories of what we did on Easter before I was a teenager. I remember waking up to a basket at my bedroom door... but I think I was much older then. So, last night Luis and I put together a basket for each of the boys. They had a disney storybook, fruitsnacks and eggs full of jelly beans. Well, Mom opened the door this morning and got me out of bed because she had questions about their baskets... she was wondering why the eggs were already in them... apparantly when we were growing up she hid the eggs and we all had an easter egg hunt for them on Easter morning. Do you guys remember that? Well Mom distracted the boys while I hid the eggs in obvious places... since we were already going to be late for church! The boys had fun finding them. Jackson behaved very well at church today... I think it is because I said he couldn't have his basket if he wasn't good :) We had a yummy dinner with ham, a glaze we made from scratch, fresh green beans, carrots, mashed potatoes, pineapple, and rolls. It was awesome. We had apple crisp and ice cream for dessert. Then we had a family home evening and Mom did a really nice lesson about Easter for the kids. They opened easter eggs with a note and object inside each one related to the Easter Story. Here are some pictures. Ethan loves to make Jacob do his freaky faces, so there are some pictures of that. Then after dinner, Ethan let the boys listen to Bob Marley on his headphones! Jackson was dancing! I guess he likes Reggae! Hope you all had a wonderful Easter!
