So many things going on...

I'm on Luis' laptop so I am not going to organize the pictures to go with the explanations... you can figure it out! There are so many things going on, at least it feels that way, but now that I am sitting down writing this, I can't think of any!
Just want to say that Jackson is doing AMAZING with the potty training! We had a playgroup this morning at the fire station and the kids got a tour and they were able to get up on the truck and everything. Jackson and I stayed for about 10 minutes. He was crying and throwing a fit the whole time... so I took him home. I was bummed because I really thought he'd love it. He is talking a lot now... saying a bunch of words. He can say or has words for cracker, cookie, candy, car, owie, wow, poo poo and pee pee, please, mommy, milk, meow, moo, quack, honk honk and beep beep. I am probably forgetting some.
I tried feeding Jacob solid foods yesterday, as you can see from the messy face picture. He wasn't interested and kept pushing it out with his tongue. So I will try it in 2 weeks again. I am giving him rice cereal in his bottle though, and he seems to like that, he just isn't ready for spoon feeding. I am proud that I was able to wait til this weekend's memorial day sales to buy te high chair because I got 20% off! So Dad's gift card covered all of it!
Today was a great bday! We all went out for BBQ for lunch and then Silvia took me shopping and bought me a couple shirts. Any minute Lew is going to get home from work and we are going to eat cake and watch "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels"... because he was shocked I had never seen it before! I got a disaster of a haircut. I brought a picture and somehow left with nothing like the picture... don't know how that happened. It looks ok when I straighten it... but it is obviously not what I wanted. My friend even noticed how bad it was! So the only option is to cut it short I think. So I am going to do that tomorrow and will post a picture then. I let my hair air dry and I couldn't help but laugh when I saw it... it reminded me of Mom and Elyse's hair in the 70's! Do you see it???

First, I want to say... I hate mesquitos. Why do they even exist? There is no good purpose for them... if you know one please let me know! My legs are all bitten up from a pool party for Jackson's friend on Friday! ITCHY!

Update on potty-training: Jackson is doing amazingly well! He barely ever has accidents, and if he does, it is usually when he gets really mad and kind of loses control. I take him out with his underpants on, and of course I always have extras! He did have an accident during Sacrament Meeting last week. Not fun. He loves his big boy underpants though. It take forever to convince him to put them on because he just likes to look at them! He is very proud.

So, we found out that the Secret Service has a 60-day deadline for background checks. Which means Luis' should be done the end of June. Unless they get an extension, which they only can if it is really spread out. Unfortunately, that is exactly how Luis' is... with all the moves his family has. But still, it wouldn't be later than July. Once he accepts an offer, we were told that he will be in training within a month. Yikes! I have to come to terms with the fact that very soon my husband is going to be GONE! I'm so sad, but happy at the same time. I am ready for a little stability in my life! So, Luis is starting to do some intense exercise tomorrow. He is going to run about 7 miles a day to lose some weight before training. We also found out that there is no way we will stay in McAllen. The last guy who was hired was given 3 choices. LA, NYC and Houston. He was smart and chose Houston! We are hoping we will have good choices as well! We don't want to start out in an expensive city and they don't pay for the first move, so somewhere close (like San Antonio) would be nice. We will be happy to just get started... no matter where we end up!

Finally, some pictures!

Our camera batteries have been dead for a while, but now I finally have recharged them and we are ready to go! There were a couple of pictures I wanted to post....

Can you tell what Jackson's favorite movie is now? He wants to watch it every day... even if I try and show him other movies, he ALWAYS picks Cars. Not shown in the picture- Lightning McQueen underpants :)

Jackson likes to "play" video games with Daddy. Luis has a racing game that Jackson just loves to watch so Luis gives him the other controller that isn't connected and lets him "play". Jackson loves it.

Jackson is on an ice cream kick... but what kid isn't? Anytime we pass a Dairy Queen, there is an unmistakable "WOW" that comes from the backseat. He knows all about Dairy Queen.

Meet Jacob at 4 months! (tomorrow) Check out those eyes! Gorgeous!

And lastly, I wanted to show Dad what I got to match the pearls he sent! I have been looking for a dress for a while and then he sent pearls... which just made me look even harder for a great dress. I wanted something simple and classic! Thanks to Burlington, this is what I found with Silvia and Linda. It's hard to see because it's black, but there are some cute pleats around the neckline. Anyways, thanks Dad, I think they work great together!

Love you all, now that I have a working camera I will hopefully post more!

Diet Results

Oh yeah... and the fruit and veggie diet was miserable! I lost 2 pounds in 4 days before I quit. I was expecting something a little more drastic... and now I have gained it back. I stopped for 2 reasons. It just wasn't enough calories and I was losing my milk supply... poor little Jacob! And Linda came to visit... I couldn't resist all the yummy food we were going to have while she was here, c'mon! Anyways, I guess it worked better for Sister Torres, but I am not interested in doing that again! I was hungry all the time, even though I was eating all the time... what a miserable way to live!

Fender Bender

I am a decent driver... despite what Luis might say. He does have to remind me to keep the speed limit every now and then. On Friday, on the way to playgroup, I got into a fender bender. NOT MY FAULT! We were on the expressway (scary!) and they merged all lanes into one... very quickly. Before the accident even happened I remember thinking, "wow this looks dangerous" as we all started merging. Anyways, the slowing all the sudden became a dead stop! Everyone had to slam on their breaks and luckily I was able to stop in time to not hit the car in front of me. But the car behind me was too close and wasn't slowing fast enough... so yeah, he hit me. It was a suburban, and luckily my equinox is about the same height... so it was just bumper-to-bumper. If I was in a little car he would have crushed my backside! I am so glad Silvia was with me or I probably would have sat there crying not knowing what to do. There is a little dent, but no damage worthy of reporting. We are lucky! And even though we didn't call the police or report the damage... I am happy to say that the guy who hit me was legal (surprise!) and even had insurance! So if it was a bad accident, at least we wouldn't have the nightmare of dealing with someone without papers! Whew! So now Nox and I have been through our first and hopefully only accident together! I was so afraid for Luis to see the bumper because I worried he would think the damage was worse that I did... but he didn't!

I am just so glad it wasn't my fault! I dread the day I ever have to call Luis and tell him it was my fault! NEVER! We are all ok. Jacob slept right through it and Jackson wasn't phased at all. I screamed a little, but I am a drama queen, so what do you expect. Thank goodness Silvia was a calm influence!

We have also been dealing with no water in the house! The pump is broken, so we are conserving toilet water and filling the tank with a hose :) No showers before church today! Thankfully I don't have to sit close to anyone in Primary!
