Happy Easter and Jacob Funny

Happy Easter! I love Easter... but especially this year... maybe because today more than ever before I am trying to help my kids understand what Easter is all about. I decided I really wanted to make it special... including a big dinner. Unless we are with family I usually skip the big holiday dinner. But I don't want to anymore. I want my boys to know Easter is a big deal! So I bought a ham and was are having all the good sides! This morning we woke up and the boys went on the hunt for their Easter eggs filled with candy. Both of them got a church-ish movie in their basket, like every year. This year we got them The Prince of Egypt and Joseph King of Dreams. For breakfast Luis made delicious eggs and black beans and I made resurrection rolls with the boys. We got the idea from Kaylee. I love it and we are going to make it a tradition. The boys enjoyed the process of making the rolls. You take a Marshmallow to represent Jesus and roll it in butter (oils that they used on his body) and rolled it in cinnamon (spices they put in the tomb). Then you wrap the marshmallow in a crescent roll and seal it up (The linens they wraped his body in. Bake them in the oven (tomb) and whan you take them out and open up the roll... it's empty... the marshmallow melted... Jesus is gone, because he was resurrected. I went over the Easter story as we did them. I think Jackson understood for the most part. Kaylee's blog has good pictures! I really enjoyed Sacrament meeting today! Really great lessons about the Atonement and Easter.

YUM! I don't know how he makes eggs so much better than me!
My handsome boys on Easter Morning!
So... the Jacob funny. I was making dinner just now... specifically the pigs in blanket that Luis requested. And as I was wrapping the mini hot dogs in the crescent rolls Jake came up and said "Mom, the hot dogs are going to be gone?" He thought the hot dogs were going to disappear like the marshmallows! I think I can count that as a lesson learned, haha!

Winter Wonderland in March

Our backyard! Beautiful!

Luis had to use our house broom to get the snow off his car. What are you supposed to use? I don't know... so he used a broom. Good Idea!!! We aren't very winter ready. Our car window scrapers are the little ones... and not as effective as a broom!
These are my snow pants from Idaho... haven't worn these in 7 years! Last time I did... I was skiing! Jax took this pic.
Throwing snowballs at Mommy's car. The most fun thing to do of course. It took me 10 minutes to dig my car out of the snow that morning! That's how dedicated I am to my spinning classes :)
Jake refused to put his head in the snow! Hard to do a snow angel without laying completely down.
A fake fall... so much fun!
Cleaning off the car like mommy and daddy.
The boys made their first snowman ever. They named him Frosty. Of course.
Look at those pink cheeks! So sweet. It was a lot of fun. Too bad Daddy was at work. It is 40 degrees today and a lot of snow has melted already. I could definitely use some 60+ degree weather! But this was a fun experience.

An another note... I just signed the boys up for their first swimming lessons ever! They start at the Y in the middle of April, so get ready for some fun swimming pics soon!

Random updates~

Just pictures mostly! Here is a sneak peak at what Mama Toni's quilt will look like (Silvia's mom). I am really excited. Although it is taking me forever to get through my stack of squares... squaring them up is the worst part of quilting!
The boys love to disassemble my living room for the sake of hiding.
Luis brought the camera back on Friday night so this is a picture of Jackson's ear on Saturday morning... the owie happened on Tuesday or Wed... can't remember... so imagine the purple bruise covering his whole upper ear!

Luis' sense of humor. :) Love it! We have really been working hard on our emergency/food supplies. Just got our 55 gallon water tank! We are very excited to do a post about this whole process as soon as we get it all organized.
And what's this? SNOW? It's spring! This is just not right! Church was cancelled today because of the snow. This is about half an hour after it started and it's been snowing for about 4 hours since then... so it's a lot worse now. C'mon Spring!!! Get here all ready!

Jackson's big owie

Luis has the camera with him in DC, so I can't take a picture for you! I was on the computer and Jax was playing video games when I heard a huge crash in the living room. It sounded like something fell on the coffee table. Well, something did... it was Jackson. He came running to me screaming and holding his ear. It looked awful after I was finally able to pry his hand away from his ear. His ear literally turned purple and swollen right before my eyes! He had a perfectly horizontal cut all across his ear and cheek. I think he was walking on the couch and fell and just hit the side of his head right on the edge of the table. Ouch. It sounded bad and it looked bad. I thought he might need stitches but I got an ice pack and after the swelling went down it doesn't look that bad. I am surprised he let me put ice on it. He hates that but this time I think it gave some immediate relief. Jacob was a big helper and got Jackson's pillow so he could lay in my lap while I put ice on his ear. We turned on Wall-E and eventually Jax calmed down. It was nice to hold him again... it's been a long time since he has wanted to cuddle. It looks funny now, with one ear larger than the other. I wish I had my camera. He is toughing it out and I think he thought it was cool that he didn't have to wear his glasses after that!

Jacob Funnies

The boys are eating Kix for breakfast. One of Jacob's Kix fell on the floor and he started freaking out because Jax was about to eat it. He said "Jackson's going to eat my Kick!"So I got it from Jackson and asked "What is this?" He said "That's my Kick." He apparantly created the singular version of Kix cereal!

Blankie Rejection

This week Jake had another sore in his mouth. You know when kids get their blankies and they just cuddle up with it, and it's so cute? Jake does that but he sucks his thumb while he cuddles his blankie. So he woke up at night again crying because of his sore hurting... and I told him he needs to stop sucking his thumb and it won't hurt his owie. He was so sad and I handed him his blankie to go back to bed, and he curled up with it... his thumb went straight to his mouth and he cried again from the sore! So I pulled his thumb out and said stop sucking! He got the biggest pouty face and with a barely understandable voice from all the lip quivering he said "I don't want it" As he handed me his blankie!!! It was the saddest thing to see, like he was so pained to give up the blankie but he knew it had to be done!!! A truly awful thing to see but so adorable!

Luis Funnies

First off, you have to know that Luis says "Your Mom..." to everything... all the time... (Don't worry Mom, never about you)

I say "I'm cold" He says "Your Mom's cold"
I say "I can't wait to see that movie" He says "your Mom can't wait to see that movie..."
He says it ALL THE TIME and it cracks me up most of the time. Sometimes it's annoying, but mostly funny.

We placed an order with Shelf Reliance tonight and it had a question: How did you hear about us? Luis typed "Online. And a friend. And your mom." And he sent it. So Luis! :) I hope whoever reads it has a sense of humor.

Drawing on carpet

Jacob decided he wanted to take a dry erase marker and draw on the carpet in his bedroom. Let me remind everyone that we are renting! We have really cheap dark carpet so I guess I'm glad it's not white! It was a black marker. I was reading online how to get it out and decided to try the rubbing alcohol. It got most of it out, but I think I need to do another round before it all comes out. I might try laundry detergent too... I dunno. By the way... I was a very angry mommy when I saw this.

Jacob's canker sore

Jacob has a HUGE canker sore inside his mouth near his bottom lip. I have realized it explains his recent fascination with chapstick. A few nights ago Jacob woke up at night and came in my room and asked for chapstick. I thought that was very weird, but I let him have some and put him back to bed. Later in the week I found this huge sore in his mouth. So I have been trying to be careful what he eats so it doesn't hurt him. A few times the past few days he has again been asking for chapstick and I just thought it was weird because they usually hate putting it on. Tonight for dinner we ate taco salad, with doritos and catalina dressing... I kinda forgot about the sore when I made that dinner choice. Oops. He kept whining as he was eating and I  knew it was hurting his sore. I felt really bad. I told him he didn't have to eat it but he really wanted to! Again he asked me for chapstick and it clicked! He thinks the chapstick will help his owie in his mouth! It was the cutest thing! So for the past few days he has been asking for what he thought would help his owie!!! So of course I put on chapstick after dinner... placebo effect :) And now he's happy as can be!

Jackson funny

At dinner tonight Jackson was very interested to know what all of our favorite colors are. He said his favorite color is violet. Jacob said his favorite color is orange. I said mine is purple. Then I said that purple and violet are the same thing. Jackson thought about that and then said "Hmmm... I don't think so!" (In a very enthusiastic voice) I laughed an realized maybe he is right! Maybe there is some difference in the definition of violet and purple. I will look it up someday. Right now I just think it's really cute that he knows the word violet :)

Happy 30th Birthday Luis! It was a very busy day for us. He didn't even get home until 7:30, after picking the boys up from me and I finished up my presidency meeting. I got home at 8:30 and we had cake and opened presents. Thanks to everyone who sent him something. I had to take a picture of the penquin potholders his parents got him... if you didn't know... Luis loves penguins. :)

And I had to add this picture because Jax is just so handsome... just like Daddy. We plan on going to Chuck E Cheese on Saturday to celebrate his birthday... let's hope he is feeling better. He is having an allergic reaction of some kind. Makes for a very uncomfortable birthday boy.
