New things!

Jackson has been wearing the same outfit to church every week since we have been here. I had a lot to pack and not much space getting here... Jacob has several shirts that he wears with his khakis. Well, we found a little suit for Jackson on clearance at Kohls the other day so we got it... and it's purple... how could I resist? Both boys got new church shoes also. They both had been wearing their beat up tennis shoes. Here they are showing off their new stuff with Daddy!
Ethan wanted Jacob to try a pepperocini at dinner the other day and I let him. I thought he would hate it, because I would hate it :) He actually had no reaction at all. He just kept sucking on it. And of course, Jackson enjoyed his quesadilla... Jacob got one too, pepperocini wasn't all he had for dinner.

Sneak Peek for Becky!

I have been really excited lately to work on my next project. I am postponing some of the others that I had planned. Once I finish my throw quilt I am going to start a quilt for Becky. I am doing a scrap quilt which I am excited to do, but also a little scared. There is just so much possibility that I can screw it up! :) I when trying to decide which fabrics to use I finally decided that is HAS to be bright... Becky is so happy and loving and positive... so I want this quilt to reflect that. So I am going to make her a bright scrappy quilt! It needs a mixture of light, bright and dark fabrics... but the majority I want bright. Here are some of my favorite scrap choices in my little collection for her quilt. I could not resist the crescent moon! It reminded me of Twilight, and Twilight will forever make me think of Becky, so it just has to be a part of the quilt :) I wanted to have the throw done by now but I've been sick so all quilting has been on hold. I did help mom with the quiet books a little. Next week will hopefully be full of good health and quilting!

Jackson Funnies

We were about to leave church and you know how chaotic that can be... find everyone, get jackets... when we were finally ready Luis said "On to the Wegermobile!" and Jackson said "No, to the car!" So funny!

Ethan's New Song

Ethan wrote a new song and recorded it. Here's the link.

Ethan Funnies

Jackson was watching Team Umizoomi with Ethan on the couch next to him. The cows on the show have kinda monotone voices and they have shapes on them. Ethan said very seriously "They talk like that because they were genetically modified and now they are zombies."

Jackson Funnies

Last night before bed I was reading the boys the book "Wacky Wednesday" and in it you are supposed to find all the "wacky" things on each page. On one page there is a person walking an alligator on a leash. I pointed it out and Jackson said "Mom, that's not an alligator. It's a crocodile."

Jacob and Jackson love Team Umizoomi on Nick Jr. Some educational shows nowadays, like Dora and Umizoomi, will say things like... "We need to jump over the ditch. Yell JUMP!" Well, Jackson is applying what he learns. This morning I heard him yell "If you want to see Francesco (from Cars 2), yell FRANCESCO!" It was hilarious!

Why Daddy is more fun than Mommy

...because Daddy can make these... Orange trees, houses, a truck pulling a boat, an elephant. The best I can do is a snake and a funky looking car. Luis has been a full time Daddy for the past 2 days while I have been working 7am-8pm. Tomorrow and Friday mom is taking over so Luis can go to work. I wish I was as creative when I was home with the kids! They have been having a lot of fun with him!

The difference

I have posted before how I hated the red I was planning on including in my thow quilt. So I got a different color and I love it. Here is the before and after. I think this quilt will go fast as son as I find the time to sit down and do it.
Before
After

I have put a few of the projects I had lined up on hold because after I finish this one I am going to attempt a scrap quilt. I think it will be a cool challenge. More details to come on that later.

Trick to Delicious Cookies

I don't have much to post, just wanted to get this out while I am thinking about it! So, for the longest time I have wondered how to make soft and chewy chocolate chip cookies instead of fluffy dry ones. I figured it out! I have been making cookies a lot here since Dave is a cookie-a-holic. I realized that if I bake them about 1 minute less than the time it recommends, the centers come out nice and soft. They flatten on their own and stiffen up a bit to become sooooo good and soft and chewy! So, the recipes usually say to bake for 8-10 minutes... I recommend 7 or 7.5 minutes depending on how hot your oven is. See how it comes out. As soon as I figured this out, the family has been telling me each time that they are the best cookies I have ever made. No joke, words right out of Dave's and Luis' mouths!!! Who woulda thought anyone would say that about something I made??? :) Try it!

LizAlan Visit

My boys call Liz and Alan a joint name, LizAlan. They came to visit us last weekend. We had a lot of fun! We mostly played around. They spent some time with Luis at the dealership. We stayed up VERY late, in true Weger fashion, enjoying some very interesting and hilarious topics :) They got to witness Jackson's talk at church about Noah... although we couldn't really hear anything because he was whispering. Anyways, it was way fun to be together again... next time, we are going to Chicago... before they move!!!

Sorry I don't have more pictures! Oh yeah, notice the duct tape on his glasses? He must have fell face first at the Child care center at the gym because they brought me his broken glasses and he had a little cut above his eye where the break is. So on Monday we had a drs appt and he is going to get new ones, but it takes 5 weeks to order them... so he is going to have to deal with the tape... it is holding them together surprisingly well!

What's going on?!?!

Before I get into what's been going on with us I want to give the link for my mom's blog... funny tidbit from Jax... http://sewwhatchadoinglynne.blogspot.com/ What she forgot to say is that immediately after that happened... he started to ask for a bag of candy. Not a piece of candy... a whole bag. I thought that was equally as funny!

We have been very busy... it's difficult with Luis and I both working... who is dropping off who, getting to drs appts, taking kids to Young Mens... life is just more cramped it seems. Luis sold his first car last week. I was very proud. He will hopefully have another sale tomorrow. We are still waiting to hear from the other company and he had another great interview with them this morning. I am still trying to find my place at the YMCA. I'm getting the hang of it though. I injured myself yesterday. I was preparing for a workout demonstration for about 15 employees and members... we were showcasing our new heartrate monitoring system called "MyZone" (which is awesome btw). I was setting up for the box jump and dropped a step right on my big toe!!! Those things are metal and are very heavy. It hurt so bad and I immediately took off my shoe to see a bruised and swollen toe. Several people told me not to do the workout, but I didn't want anyone to think I injured myself on purpose because I chickened out... it was supposed to be a super intense workout. So I did it... injured toe and all. I modified the burpees to be girlie pushups so I didn't put any pressure on my toe. I was also extremely EXTREMELY sore from a bootcamp workout I did on Monday. So it was an interesting day to say the least. My body is one big OUCHIE!!!

I know there is much more... I kept thinking, "man I have to blog about this" but now I don't remember. So I will be back!

My Small Wish List

This post is more for Luis than for anyone else ;)

As a beginner quilter, I have many needs or wants... I don't know the difference when it comes to quilting!

I definitely need a sewing machine before Mom leaves this summer... #1 on the list!!!

I need a stash!!! I know it grows over time, but I need something to work with! I am hoping Mom will leave me a bunch of her scraps! *hint*

Anything from this shop would be awesome, but I like this basic pack.

And any quilting supplies in general!

Upcoming Quilt

You guys are going to have to get used to the quilting posts... sorry if they bore you! I have had the fabric cut for this throw quilt I have been planning for a while. I took a break from it to make Aubry's quilt. It is a star quilt and I took several rows off the pattern to make it throw size. Even though I had the fabric cut, I hadn't laid out the pieces to see what it would look like. I wanted to do this because I completely changed the color scheme from the pattern. Big mistake... it just makes it really complicated. I had to go through and cross out and rewrite the color I was using through the entire pattern, just to be sure I wouldn't mess up! Maybe it's because I'm inexperienced. This will be my first quilt working with triangles... they are the easier ones (Which are sewn together as squares and then cut), which is why I am attempting them instead of the more difficult triangles. Anyways!!! Once I laid it out, I decided I'm not sure if I like the color scheme. I wanted blues and browns and creams, but red came into the picture and I was ok with that, until I laid it out... but I won't waste the fabric, so I will use it anyways. I think I will like it once its all sewn together more. Here are some pictures of the very rough draft laid out on the carpet :)
